Dear All Here is an update on my progress with arrangements for British Scandinavian Otology (changed from Anglo to keep the Scots happy!) meeting in Windsor June 13-15, 2014. I hope you can all put the dates in your diaries. I am aware that I do not have contacts in Denmark, Finland and Iceland. Perhaps you can give me some email addresses. I would be pleased if you could circulate this advanced warning to the members of your national societies to give it as much publicity as possible. The meeting will take place at The Sir Christopher Wren hotel in Windsor http://sirchristopherwren.co.uk/ . This is a charming old hotel right by the Thames in the heart of Windsor and beneath the castle walls. We have a concessionary room rate of £130 per night b&b or £140 for per night for 2. So in effect only £10 per night to bring along a partner. This is half the standard rate and excellent value for Windsor in the summer. The meeting room at the hotel will hold 100. I am planning to meet for lunch and run the Friday afternoon academic session from 2 to 5 pm. This will give time for you Scandinavians to fly in on the Friday morning. The hotel is 20 minutes from Heathrow, 50 from Gatiwck and Luton and 75 from Stanstead airports. The Friday night dinner will be in the hotel which can cater for up to 100 and has a lovely terrace overlooking the Thames. On Saturday the academic session will be 9.30 to 12.30. There will be no lunch on the Saturday so that delegates are free to explore Windsor and Eton in teh afternoon. There are boat trips from outside the hotel and the castle is 2 minutes walk. Eton College is just across the bridge. The Saturday night dinner will be in Great Fosters a beautiful 16th century Grade 1 listed house in 50 acres http://www.greatfosters.co.uk/ . I envisage the meeting including the lunch and 2 dinners but excluding travel and accommodation will cost around £300 for delegates and £200 for partners. So what do you think? Will you come along? Is the price OK? What academic subjects would you like included? Am also looking for sponsors. Hopefully companies with a good Scandinavian presence. Here again I would appreciate your ideas. I will be in touch when the website with further details of booking is up and running.
Many thanks, Chris
